Wanita Umno plays role in strengthening grassroots

SANDAKAN: Wanita Umno has been playing their role in strengthening the party, especially at grassroots level.Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Zakaria Mohd Edris said programmes conducted by Wanita, such as Salam Sayang and Jalinan Rakyat progammes that reached out to grassroots, has helped in identifying problems faced by people.Zakaria said this while speaking during the opening ceremony of the Libaran Wanita Umno Representatives Meeting 2014 at Dewan Sri Libaran, here, on Sunday.

Also present were State Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, who is also Sabah Wanita Umno Deputy Chief, Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid and Sabah Wanita Umno Chief, Datuk Armani Mahiruddin and Wanita Umno Zone 5 representatives.He said Wanita contributes towards uplifting spirit of members each time they hold a programme to reach out to women voters.The movement should also increase and diversify their down field programmes, strengthen the party's machinery as well as conduct more community activities, to bring the party closer to people especially those the needy."About 49.1 percent of Malaysia's population are women and those who are successful greatly contributes to the economy, wellbeing, excellence and prosperity," he said.
