KOTA KINABALU: If you are pretty and you know it, you may want to check out the Sabah-level audition for the Miss Malaysia/Universe 2015 pageant here today. The organisers, Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation, are searching for about 16 aspiring beauty queens who will be pitted against their peers from elsewhere in the country at the next stage of the competition.

The winner will get to represent Malaysia at the Miss Universe pageant later next year.

All you have to do is to turn up for the walk-in audition today between 10am and 5pm at Novotel 1Borneo Hotel.

One more thing. The audition is only open to non-Muslim Malaysian women aged between 18 and 26 as of February 2015 and standing at least 165cm tall.

"We are looking for a girl who best embodies a Malaysian beauty. Not only physical beauty but also one who possesses traits that best reflect our warm culture, strength and poise," declared Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation National Director, Carey Ng, Friday.

And she made no secret of the weight of the competition and all that it offers the eventual winner.

"The girl who wins the crown shall win people's hearts and strive daily not only to inspire but to empower," she said, adding the winner can expect a life-changing experience.

Ng explained that selected candidates from Sabah will be joining girls in Kuala Lumpur for the competition and reality TV show scheduled in November this year in their journey to the crowning of the Miss Malaysia/Universe in April 2015.

According to her, the winner will get to travel abroad to represent Malaysia on the international stage at the Miss Universe pageant to be held later in 2015.

"Additionally, she will also receive a cash prize of RM48,000 and sponsored prizes worth over RM100,000," she said.

But the road to fame and glory will be fraught with obstacles and challenges, she was quick to point out.

"The competition starts as soon as a girl auditions and we will be expecting hard work and dedication to the training provided prior and during the official competition which will be aired on 8TV early next year," said Ng.

"Competition is tough every year but we believe that we will find many potential queens who will be able to rise to the challenge of representing our beloved country.

"We look forward to meeting the East Malaysian beauties as this will be the start to much more involvement with East Malaysia in the future," Ng said.
