LAHAD DATU: Two men and a woman were on Monday jailed 50 months each for robbing a man.Sessions Court Judge Steve Ritikos also handed three strokes of the cane to Murseed Mut Jail, 20, and Mohammad Azhar Rasid, 22, while Dayang Norazidah Mohammad Nor, 23, was spared the whip.

They admitted to robbing the 28-year-old man, together with two accomplices still at large, of RM2,270 at 6.30pm on Sept 14 this year at the Kingston Hotel, here.

The offence under Section 395 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, on conviction.

Inspector Josepine Seliman, who prosecuted, told the court that the man was in his room when a woman identified as Norazidah knocked and entered.

They chatted for a while before four men also came in and Norazidah claimed one of them was her fiancé.

Josepine said suddenly the four men, two of them identified as Murseed and Azhar assaulted the victim with a belt buckle and forced him to surrender his money before they fled the scene.

The victim identified Murseed, Dayang and Azhar as the persons who had robbed him and the CCTV at the hotel also recorded their presence there.

Murseed was ordered referred to the Immigration Department upon completing his jail sentence.
