AEON Malaysia targets RM250,000 sales in Japan

CHIBA (Japan): Aeon Co (M) Bhd is targeting to achieve RM250,000 sales for 158 products made in Malaysia in conjunction with the Best of Malaysia (BEM) programme 2014.Its Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and Branding, Nor Laila Mohd Samin said the fourth edition of the programme which started Friday until October 20 listed 89 food products and 69 non-food products involving 27 manufacturers including the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).She said among the products were Old Town White Coffee and pineapple which received encouraging response from local customers, besides instant noodles, ingredients, sauces, virgin coconut oil, 100 plus and flowers which are marketed at seven Aeon supermarkets in Chiba, Tokyo and Osaka. ADVERTISEMENT "The products are chosen based on their quality, taste, form, colour, and packaging, besides fulfilling the taste of the Japanese," she told reporters here Saturday. She said these products had to undergo laboratory tests in Japan and passed the criteria set by the country before they could be marketed. Meanwhile, she said the BEM 2014 will be launched by the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, at Aeon Makuhari New City in Chiba Prefecture on Sunday.The organisation of BEM was also an effort to support Visit Malaysia Year 2014, she said. – Bernama
