KOTA KINABALU: The Special Corruption Court will on Oct 30 rule whether a senior police senior has a case to answer on two counts of corrupt practice involving a sum of RM1,600.Sessions Court Judge Dato Ishak Bakri fixed the date for Deputy Superintendent of Police Razi Hussein, who is attached to the Commercial Crime Investigation Department in Kepayan, when his case was brought up for submission clarification.On the first count, Razi is accused of asking a bribe of RM1,600 from one Raymond Chong Kiam Fui as inducement to not take action against Papar Mini Mart which was found selling pirated compact discs.

The offence allegedly took place at 11pm on Oct 3, 2012 at the Big Bowl Restaurant Sdn Bhd in Taipan, Inanam New Township, near here.He was charged under Section 16(a)(B) of the Anti-Corruption Act 1997, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and a fine of five times the amount involved or RM10,000, whichever is higher.
On the second count, he allegedly received the RM1,600 bribe from Chong for the same purpose between 3.30pm and 4pm on Oct 24, 2012 at Restoran Azlina Sulawesi Kafe and Katering in Jalan Gaya, here.Razi was released on a bail of RM5,000 in two local sureties.

The prosecution had called 16 witnesses during the hearing.Prosecuting Officer Awang Shamsul Baharom, who appeared with Michael Joimin of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, conducted the prosecution while Razi was represented by counsel Zahir Shah.
