Secretaries holding major fund raiser before 40th jubilee

Mary ChinKOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Association of Secretaries (SAS) will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its formation next year.

Re-elected President Rosnany Hj Tarin disclosed this at the installation Ceremony cum Members Gathering held at Wisma Kinsabina, here.

"I call on all members and past presidents to contribute ideas and give their wholehearted support to ensure success of the celebration," she said.

Prior to the celebration, SAS will hold a major fund-raising event in aid of the association's programmes and activities.

According to Rosnany, the new Executive Committee for the 2014-2016 term will pay a courtesy call on their Patron, Toh Puan Datin Seri Panglima Hajah Norlidah Binti Datuk R.M. Jasni to brief her on upcoming events.

She was duly installed by Immediate Past President cum Adviser, Amelia John Yagot, witnessed by Protem President Doris Yeo, Founder Members Fiona Chong and Christina Cheah as well as Senior Members.

Rest of the office-bearers : Vice-President – Marylyn Ellen Lajangang, Secretary – Clarice Alywne Cyril, Assistant Secretary – Hanisah Saridi, Treasurer – Angela Galun, Assistant Treasurer – Ainnie Sindih and Committee Members – Hazrolis Jaiti, Norline S. Benggon, Nurisah Bonsuning, Emily Fung & Suzie Fahin

The association's 38th Annual General Meeting was held in June this year.

Rosnany presented a certificate of appreciation to Yeo and Most Active Member Hanisah Saridi, as well as letters of appointment to members of the Board of Trustees, Salina Lee Abdullah and Maimunah Lee Abdullah.

She also congratulated past Vice-President, Josia Madingkir on winning the Excellent Secretary Award 2014 presented by the State Public Sector Training Institute (INSAN) in conjunction with Secretaries' Week this year.

Meanwhile, she reported that the President of Malaysian Association of Professional Secretaries & Administrators (Mapsa), Melissa Ong has invited SAS to participate in a goodwill visit to Bangkok in December this year. Food and transportation in Bangkok will be sponsored by Mapsa.

Officially registered in December 1975, SAS is affiliated to Mapsa and has 141 members from both the public and private sectors. The Founder President is Monica Kong.
