KOTA KINABALU: More than 800 former part-time daily workers (PSH) of the Sabah Education Ministry want a continuation of their service and eventually be absorbed into permanent posts.A representative of the group, Dennis Rumalin, said the appointment of assistant administrators (clerical/operations) Grade N17 through the PSH system in schools was implemented in all district education offices in Sabah and Kedah in June last year, and the service ended in December the same year.
He said the main reason the post was created was to reduce the burden on teachers who could then focus fully on teaching and learning.

"Sabah and Kedah were made the pioneer states in this programme. It is understood that the programme has been continued in Kedah this year.
"Unfortunately, our positions here (Sabah) were not continued because the appointments are subject to the current financial resources of the (state) government.
"As such, we, the former part-time daily workers in Sabah urge the education department to reconsider the matter, in line with the 1Malaysia concept which stresses on equality for all," he said in a statement here today. Rumalin, a former PSH in SK Popok, Kota Marudu said the PSH service should be continued, in line with the Malaysia Education Development Plan (Year 2013-2025) which had been planned, especially in rural areas in Sabah.
Meanwhile, the Sabah Kadazandusun Murut Welfare and Education Association (Pekadin) hoped the federal government would consider the appeal.
