KOTA KINABALU: Yayasan Sabah Group will continue to focus on providing quality pre-schooling and the State's education development in line with its objectives to enhance the people's quality of life. According to Yayasan Sabah Director Datuk Sapawi Ahmad, they have been actively involved in pre-schooling education since 1979.

"This clearly shows that the Yayasan Sabah Group is aware of the importance of early childhood education as well as its development in the State and nation," he said.

Sapawi said this in his speech delivered by Yayasan Sabah Corporate Secretary Dr. Karim Samsuri during the 32nd pre-school certificate presentation ceremony at Yayasan Sabah here, Wednesday.

He explained that the government through the Education Ministry has pre-schooling education set as one of their focuses in the National Key Results Area (NKRA).

"The government under the NKRA pre-school education intends to increase the number of pre-school pupils up to 80 per cent.

"The Malaysian Education Plan (2013-2025) in transforming the nation's education development starting from pre-school level has targeted 100 per cent of pupil enrolment by the year 2020," he said.

Therefore, he explained that various initiatives and incentives had been implemented by the government to increase the number of pre-school pupils and its quality of education.

For example, in Sabah, Sapawi stated that the Education Ministry always offers support through funding assistance to the Yayasan Sabah Group especially the Childhood Development Division for the development and operation of pre-schools in rural areas.

A total of 77 pupils from Tadika Ria, Taska Ria and Taska Kristal received their pre-school certificates as well as Excellence Awards.

The programme also saw various performances by the pre-school pupils.

Sapawi said he believed the pupils through their performances had shown that each of them has unique capabilities and talents, which can be developed for the benefit of their future.

However, he explained that the children's basic development is developed based on their family background.

"I would like to stress here that the children's education excellence is produced through cooperation and sacrifices from all parties," he added.
