Call for allocation to repair SK Weston damaged by winds
WESTON: Tourism, Culture and Environment Assistant Minister Datuk Kamarlin Ombi urged the Government to offer a special allocation to repair SK Weston's building structure which was damaged due to strong winds on Tuesday.Kamarlin said a total of five blocks of the school building need repair and that the roofs were almost blown off.

"It is important to ensure that the school is safe and the comfort of its pupils, including the teachers and supporting staff, so that teaching and learning will be able to go on.

"Therefore, I urge the Education Ministry to channel a special allocation as soon as possible to enable repairs to be done for the benefit of the school pupils," he said when paying the school a visit.

Meanwhile, SK Weston Headmaster Matusin Matali said the incident occurred when the teachers were busy doing preparations for the Excellence Service Award.

"Among the buildings that suffered damage the most are the headmaster's office, clerk's office, a block of classes, pre-school building, hostel's dining hall and school canteen.

"However, I am grateful that no one was injured during the incident," he said.

There are a total of 191 pupils, 27 teachers and nine support staff at SK Weston.
