"Of the 44,427 candidates, 22,699 or 51.09 per cent managed to pass all subjects. This shows an increase of 2.43 per cent from 2013. The passing grade of 51.09 per cent is the highest percentage Sabah has scored in five years," said Jame.

"The average percentage of those scoring weak (D) and very weak (E) has also dropped from 7.81 per cent in 2013 to 1.23 per cent this year."

"Overall, Sabah has done well this year and I am very happy with the results. I hope that we will be able to move forward and continue increasing the percentage."

He also said in terms of the State average grade quality (GPN), Sabah registered an improvement from 2.76 in 2013 to 2.71 this year.

"I am proud that the pupils managed to perform very well even after with the issues of leaked UPSR question papers and the postponement of some exam dates."

Jame was referring to the leaked question papers of four subjects this year, namely Science, English language, Mathematics and Tamil language that had delayed the UPSR examination for almost a month.

He lauded the efforts by teachers and headmasters statewide who had been the backbone of this year's success.

"I hope all teachers, headmasters, educators and parents continue this effort to strengthen and make better our education. I urge the teachers to continue increasing their commitment to educating the children."
