TAWAU: Tawau Zone that covers Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna and Tawau registered highest cases of house fires, especially in squatter areas.Recently suspicion that some of the fires were deliberately set in order to be eligible for PPR (low income homes) was aroused when fire and other rescue personnel were forcibly prevented by residents from putting out a fire.Nevertheless, its head for Fire and Rescue here Ismaidi Ismail said most of the incidents were caused by illegal connection of electricity.
