Meanwhile, Operation Commander of the Fire and Rescue Department Lintas headquarters Laupin Nuar said they dispatched six firefighters and one fire engine to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 12.10pm.

"Upon arriving, we saw the vehicle's engine running and all doors were locked. Hence, we had to smash the left rear window.

"After we were able to open the door, the ambulance paramedics rushed to treat the man but he was pronounced dead at about 12.20pm," he said. The body was sent for post mortem.

Chin, who supplied building materials to the construction industry, was said to be not his usual self lately.

It was learnt that he had told a friend that business was hard and creditors were chasing him because it was becoming difficult to collect money from debtors.

"I went to see him in his office and when I talked to him, I could see that he was not focussed. He appeared sad and his mind was somewhere else. But I never expected him to end his life," said the friend.
