KUALA LUMPUR: The Education Ministry on Friday dismissed what it said was fabricated news circulating on the social media that the 2015 school session had been postponed by one month. Director-General of Education Datuk Seri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said the new school session had been deferred by only one week. The new school session for Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu and Johor would begin on Sunday Jan 11 and for the other states, on Monday Jan 12.

"The Education Ministry has asked the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to investigate and act immediately against those who had spread the fabricated news," he said.

Khair advised the people to not easily believe news on the social media, but to refer to official news websites or contact the ministry. – Bernama
