AirAsia X announces leadership changes

Kuala Lumpur: AirAsia X Bhd Friday confirmed that Azran Osman Rani is vacating his post as Chief Executive Officer, effective Friday.The low-cost long-haul airline has appointed AirAsia Co-Founder Datuk Kamarudin Meranun (pic) as its new Group Chief Executive Officer and Benyamin Ismail as the Acting Chief Executive Officer, with immediate effect, as part of an on-going reorganisation exercise.In a statement here Friday, AirAsia X said in the newly created role, Kamarudin would spearhead development of the overarching strategy for the AirAsia X Group, which encompassed AirAsia X, AirAsia X Thailand and Indonesia AirAsia Extra.

Kamarudin and Benyamin would both lead the reorganisation and turnaround exercise to strengthen the company's balance sheet and maximise profitability to ensure a stronger financial footing for the company.Kamarudin said with this robust plan in place, AirAsia X would advance to the next chapter of growth and uphold its leadership position in the long-haul, low-cost market.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
