Kuala Lumpur: The nationwide price reduction campaign starting March 1 will be conducted for one month and may be extended if the need arises, largely depending on feedback from consumers. "If the consumers are satisfied with the price reduction, the campaign will continue.
"On the other hand, if they feel that the campaign does not benefit them, we will stop it," Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malek said.
He said the campaign was made possible following the ministry's engagement with related agencies, hypermarkets, wholesalers, traders, retailers and consumers.
The prices will be reduced by between 10 and 20 per cent with the cooperation of industry players and major hypermarkets, he told reporters at the handing over of a bus sponsored by Bank Rakyat to Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), here today.
Hasan said the campaign was timely as it would be launched one day after the government's announcement on new fuel prices on Feb 28.
He thanked companies and businesses that were receptive to the campaign, including Nestle and hypermarkets, namely Aeon, Mydin, Giant, Tesco, The Store, Econsave, UO Superstore and NSK Supermarket. – Bernama
