Don't believe in rumours on murder: K'gau DO

Keningau: Residents here are urged not to believe in speculations surrounding the murder of the Selangor college student whose body was found inside the District Office building, here, on Monday. District Officer Yusop Osman said the District Office building has been closed for a week to let police carry out investigations at the scene. "We should not believe in rumours but leave it to the police to investigate," he said, Thursday.

Twenty-year-old Sairah Fitri Binti Tifanus, whose father is a Timorese and mother a Dusun Sungai from Sandakan, was laid to rest at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam in Jalan Tenom, 2km from Keningau town, at about 1pm on Wednesday.The funeral was attended by relatives and friends from Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau and the Interior. Her immediate family members were also at the funeral but declined to comment. Sairah stayed at Kg Durok, Keningau, and was doing her practical at the Licensing Unit of the District Office.

She came to the office around 8am on Monday and half an hour later went to the toilet located about five metres from her office. Her failure to return prompted the security guard and a janitor to open the toilet door with a spanner. Initially they saw blood flowing from a toilet cubicle and upon opening the door by force, found Sairah lying in a pool of blood inside and contacted the police.

Two stab wounds were found in her chest. Those with information are urged to contact the Keningau Police Station at 087-332222.
