Kota Kinabalu: Striker Rozaimi Abdul Rahman is set to undergo a special rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).Secretary-General of Sabah Football Association (Safa), Alijus Sipil, said on Monday that the 23-year-old will report to the national body at Wisma FAM today.

"The programme is specially set up for him and this is to ensure that he can recover faster and get the chance to be drafted into the Harimau Muda team which is expected to start training on March 15."

He is confident that Rozami will be back with the Rhinos after he completes the programme.

"After the programme, he is expected to be back with the team and by that time we hope that he will be able to play in the starting line-up for Sabah Rhinos when we take on T-Team in Terengganu on April 4."

"Hopefully the programme in Kuala Lumpur will work for him and at the same time adding confidence so that he can return to his former self.

"All the fans are looking forward to his return to full fitness and contribute to the State team and also to play for the Harimau Muda team again," he added.

Rhinos skipper El Hadji Diouf had earlier said Rozaimi will play a major role for the State team in the new season.

"He (Rozaimi) is one of the most important players we have got in the team. I know he is not fully fit now because of his injury last year.

"But from what I have seen in training, he is a young lad with a lot of talent and for me to score goals this season I will need his assists to give me the ball."

The former Harimau Muda striker suffered an ankle injury in the FA Cup second round tie against Kelantan in February 2014 and had undergone surgery later that year.

He then returned to training with the team in November and has also played in several friendly matches.

However, he is still not fully fit enough to play in the league this season and the management later decided that he to undergo rehabilitation programmes as well as special training under the supervision of experienced coach, Sulaiman Arman.
