Kota Kinabalu: Putra Theatre Ballroom in Bukit Padang is known as an avenue for various dinner or lunch events but come May 22, hordes of pumped-up musclemen will converge there for the Sabah Body Building Association (SBBA)-organised Mr Sabah.Acting President of the association, Joannes Staneslous, said they expect about 80 participants to take part in the tournament.He said SBBA is offering full categories that comprise nine open, two junior and one master's category.

The categories to be contested are light-flyweight, flyweight, bantamweight, lightweight, welterweight, light-middleweight, middleweight, light-heavyweight and heavyweight."The Mr Sabah will also be a selection platform for the Mr Malaysia Body Building Championship that will be held in Labuan on June 5-7," he said.
According to him, the winner in each category will represent Sabah to the championship in Labuan."Therefore we want to capitalise the geographical advantage and send a full squad to increase our medal prospects in Labuan," he said.

On other developments, Joannes thanked the Youth and Sports Ministry particularly Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan and the Sabah Sports Council for the RM41,000 grant the association received at the Incentives and Annual Grants ceremony recently.He gave assurance that the funds would be put to good use for SBBA's development activities and programmes for its athletes.
