Keningau: Five students, aged between 14 and 15, were detained to facilitate investigations into the rape of a 15-year-old girl at a park here. District Police Chief DSP Douglas Nyeging Taong said prior to the incident, the girl was said to have joined the boys for a drinking session and later brought to a Ford four-wheel-drive where she was allegedly raped.

The vehicle is believed to belong to the father of one of the boys.

The boys were picked up for questioning by a police team who went to the school at about 11.30am on Wednesday.

In a separate case, police are on the hunt for a 19-year-old boy believed to have raped a 16-year-old girl at a lodging here.

On that note, Douglas reminded parents to always be aware and concerned of their children's activities to prevent them from being involved in criminal activities.

On another development, 12 people, including four women, have been arrested in connection with the death of the college student who was found lying in a pool of blood inside one of the toilets at the District Office here recently.

The student's boyfriend, in his 20s, was among those brought in for questioning.

Douglas urged those with information on the case to come forward to facilitate investigations.
