Organising chairman Prof Dr Albert Tan said honesty is related to both words and actions and great companies and entrepreneurs should deliver what they had promised to the customers not only in good times but also in challenging times.

"Honesty relates to the cornerstone of all success, without which confidence and ability to perform shall cease to exist.

"Profit is undoubtedly the ultimate goal of all businesses but it pays to be honest, unless you are in business to make a one-off profit and then plan to take the money and run.

"Honesty is always the best policy, and will continue to stay so for all time to come," said Dr Albert.

He said the Asia Pacific Top Excellence Brand Committee constantly organised the Asia Pacific International Honesty Enterprise-Keris Award since 2002 to encourage honest and ethical business practices among entrepreneurs and companies.

Since then, he said the award has grown by leaps and bounds, becoming one of the largest recognised international business awards in the Asia Pacific region, all thanks to the support of Asia Pacific Municipal Governments, business associations, professional organisations and media corporations.

The award was organised by international organisations from 10 countries and nominees from more than 13 countries in the region and hailed by the China Central Television (CCTV) as the international business Oscar Award, he said.

"Over the past 13 years, we have awarded more than 500 outstanding companies, that have put honesty, ethics and integrity above all else in their business and corporations," said Dr Albert.

This year, there was an additional 60 companies in the list of recipients from more than 800 nominations from 13 countries.

The names of the winners will be published in the 'The Asia Pacific International Honesty Enterprise-Keris Award-Book of Records' and will be distributed throughout Asia by June 2015.

"The book provides an avenue to showcase successful companies with honesty and integrity, which have achieved excellence and is a perfect tool for companies to penetrate overseas markets," Dr Albert said.
