Alliance Bank grabs 'Best SME Bank'

Kuala Lumpur: Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd has been named for the second time the 'Best SME Bank' in Asia Pacific, Gulf region and Africa during The Asian Banker's Excellence in Retail Financial Services Award 2015 ceremony, held in Singapore recently.The bank first won the title in 2013. "Alliance Bank places great importance in the small medium enterprises (SME) segment because we believe that SMEs play a vital role in the growth of the country," said the bank's senior executive vice president, head of group business banking, Steve Miller, in a statement Friday.

"Over the past six years, Alliance Bank has undertaken a number of key strategic initiatives to propel its SME banking business forward," said head of research for The Asian Banker, Colin Savage."Its transformational journey was characterised by three key phases from its launch in 2009 to doubling growth in its SME loan base in three years and then tripling it in five years," he said. – Bernama
