Enjoying music streaming through your smartphone

Kota Kinabalu: Music and radio enthusiasts can now enjoy music streaming through their smart phones, tablets and personal computers with the newly launched App 'Raku' or 'Radio Aku'.The app which comes in two versions was launched at Laundry Bar, The Curve, in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The free version of the app allows users to enjoy access to millions of international and local songs, podcast, comedy, news, sports as well as traffic updates anywhere and anytime.

The premium version, on the other hand, offers additional features such as unlimited access to songs from a wider music catalogue, song lists that can be modified, radio upon requests as well as offline music downloads.

Users can also create their own radio station that includes their favourite song lists apart from being able to share their lists with their social media friends.

According to Astro Operation Officer Chief Henry Tan, Raku is convenient to all its users besides allowing them to listen to their favourite songs.

"Raku application also comes in four languages namely Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mandarin and Tamil.

"There are about one million local and international songs of various genres offered to all users and I believe that this will be something new for music enthusiasts," he said, welcoming DiGi as their premier advertising partner.

According to Digital DiGi Service Chief Praveen Rajan, they will usually make sure they have a variety of services to offer in attracting more customers apart from fulfilling the differences of their taste and lifestyle.

"We are happy to be Raku's partner as it is in line with the DiGi Live's main objective which is to offer latest content of entertainment which is inspiring and innovative for the customers.

"Customers who listened to Hitz.FM, Era FM or My FM will get to enjoy unlimited stream through our latest offer," he said.

Meanwhile, Astro Radio Chief Executive Officer Jake Abdullah explained that the Raku app would also give opportunity to local artistes in strengthening the local music industry.

"I am very happy that Raku has been able to enhance its commitment in supporting local artiste and indie groups so that they will be able to receive more attention through the application," he said.

Their fans will be able to enjoy their music recordings or live without even having the need to be at their performance because Raku enables interactions between musicians as well as their fans.

Among the local artistes that already have Raku applications include Noh Salleh, Tres Ampre, Bittersweet, Man Bai, Alleycats, Dasha Logan as well as Indie group such as Pop Shuvit, Paper Plane Pursuit and Bunkface.

Raku can be downloaded via www.raku.com.my, Google Playstore and Apple Appstore whereas the premium version of it can be purchased for RM14.90 per month and USD5.99 at Apple Store.
