Kota Kinabalu: Newly registered Usno on Sunday said Mohamad Yusup Lewah, who made the statement on Saturday urging the organisation's President to step down, is no longer a member of Usno.President Dulli Tiaseh said Yusup never attended Usno's previous five annual general meetings.

"Generally, in any organisation, if a member or office bearer fail to attend the organisation's AGM for a number of times without valid reasons, his or her membership is automatically revoked," he said on Sunday.

According to him, Yusup also failed to perform in his capacity as a, supposedly, Usno Kalabakan chief.

To this, he said that Yusup's statement is invalid.

Yusup had said that Dulli should resign because his leadership is "vague and confusing".

He said the party needed a more credible, transparent, dedicated and strong leader who really understands its original objectives.

He also said Usno needed a leader who always stands by his men and listens to the views of the appointed division heads.

He also demanded an explanation from Dulli on the SMS that was sent to him by a supreme council member that propose his (Yusup) resignation as Usno Kalabakan chief and instead become the division's information chief.

Meanwhile, Dulli expressed Usno's appreciation to both the Federal and State governments as well as to the Federal Registrar of Societies (RoS) for Usno's registration as a new organisation. Previously, he said, Usno was known as Usno (Baru).

Usno (Baru) or now Usno was formed in an attempt to revive the defunct United Sabah National Organisation (Usno) that was founded by Tun Mustapha, the third Chief Minister of Sabah.

It was de-registered in 1994.

On other issues, Dulli said Usno would neither side with the existing Government nor the opposition. "We will remain non partisan and we will surely make our stand when we see something is not right," he said.

On the party's direction, he said, it would be announced later.
