Penang: A physically-challenged car wash operator claimed his business was badly affected after he was ordered by the Seberang Prai Tengah District and Land Office to vacate the premises without valid reason.A. Vigneswaran, 39, said he lost RM65,000 after abruptly closing down his business despite complying with all stipulated procedures to set it up.

He claimed he rented the land with the agreement of Penang Second Deputy Chief Minister Dr P. Ramasamy last year.

He said a state government exco had directed the Seberang Prai Municipal Council (MPSP) to shut down the business, claiming it intruded into the land belonging to the Penang Development Corporation (PDC).

"I have given the one-month rental of RM2,000 which they asked. Suddenly, they ordered me to stop," he added.

Vigneswaran, who has a letter of confirmation on his physical disability had also submitted all relevant documents to journalists to support his claim.

According to a letter from MPSP dated Nov 22, 2014, the council permitted him to conduct business at Lot 340, Mukim 1, Bandar Seberang Jaya here, while a letter from PDC dated Nov 25, 2014, allowed him to rent the lot.

Vigneswaran also showed a receipt of payment from PDC dated Jan 2, 2015 as proof he had paid RM2,000, as agreed upon.

However, on Jan 6, this year, he received a letter from PDC claiming he had entered and conducted work on the site despite not getting permission from the local authorities.

Asked if he had met with the state exco to seek clarification, Vigneswaran claimed his request was rejected.

Meanwhile, in KUALA LUMPUR, the Home Ministry (KDN) has banned four books authored by controversial novelist Faisal Tehrani as they were found to have contained Syiah elements and contravened the teachings of the Sunnah Wal Jamaah.

The books are "Sebongkah Batu di Kuala Berang" published by PTS Litera Utama Sdn Bhd, "Karbala" published by Abeerden Books World, "Tiga Kali Seminggu" and "Ingin Jadi Nasrallah", both published by Al-Ameen Serve Holdings Sdn Bhd.

KDN Publications and Quranic Texts Control Division secretary Hasmimah Nik Jaafar said the Publication Prohibition Order, which took effect on April 1, was gazetted on the four books because they contained elements detrimental to public order and safety.

The ban was also in accordance with Section 7(1) of the Printing Presses And Publications Act 1984.

According to Subsection 2 of Section 8 of the same Act, anyone found to have printed, imported, sold and in possession of the banned books in the country, is liable to jail not more than three years or fine not exceeding RM20,000, or both.
