Kuala Penyu lass wins Model of the Year

Kota Kinabalu: Wenanita Wences Angang of Kuala Penyu saw off the challenge from 13 other finalists to win this year's Miss Sabah Model of the Year (Smoty) Season 6 held last Saturday.The 20-year old brought home RM2,500 in cash, a crown, a trophy and a certificate. Coming in second and third were 21-year old Farinah Basirin of Keningau, winning RM1,500 and 21-year old Marvena Jitol of Kota Marudu who took home RM1,000.

Kudat's 22-year old Brenda Anuro Lundo came in fourth followed by 20-year old Kimberly Vung of Penampang, 20-year old Fillonie Francis Debully of Kota Kinabalu in sixth place and 18-year old Abbey Holly Radcliff, also from Kota Kinabalu in seventh.

All winners also received the New York Fitness Gym Membership Card sponsored by New York Fitness Gym.

Wenanita also won RM500 after being named the winner in Best Design Smoty Gown (Audience Choice) while Marvena was hailed as Miss Best Catwalk, as she walked away with RM300 cash.

Brenda was also named the winner for Miss Popularity under both categories namely Media Choice and Audience Choice and also won Best Design VS (Victoria Secret) Inspired Costume (Audience Choice).

Meanwhile, Meme Yaw was named the winner of the Most Creative Design Smoty Gown while Kimberly won the Most Creative Design VS (Victoria Secret) Inspired Costume.

Also present at the event were Mister Sabah Model Of The Year Season 6, Edison Chua, Mister Malaysia Borneo United Continent 2015, Ezrie Eallie of Sarawak, Mister Metro Elite Bachelors Tourism Philippines 2015, Rex Everett Baruiz from the Phillipines and 1st Runner Up Mister Pancontinental 2015 and Mr World Malaysia 2016, Mohd Yusuf Tony.

Organising chairman Victor Gerard said Smoty was first organised in 2011 with the objective of providing the platform for local talents to showcase their capabilities in the modelling or pageant industry.

"Smoty also aspires to spearhead the growth of modelling competitions as well as beauty pageants in the State.

"Other than that, we want to give opportunity to local designers to create and show their talents in designs," he said.
