TENOM: Works have begun to reconstruct 200 metres of the railway track between Tenom and Melalap. This followed a recent announcement by State Infrastructure Development Minister and Melalap Assemblyman Datuk Peter Anthony that the Government has approved an allocation of about RM10 million for the upgrading all railway tracks, including purchasing new locomotives and coaches.
The new locomotives and coaches are expected to arrive in May this year.

The matter, which was viralled in Facebook, was also agreed by respondents who believe the effort will return Melalap to its former glory days and can attract more tourists to the area.
There were also those who were worried that the project may not materialise due to financial constraints or other petty matters.
