TENOM: A man has been picked up for questioning for allegedly raping a 14-year-old at Bukit Layang-Layang, Jalan Tenom-Sipitang, near here, Sunday.
The suspect was detained at his house about 9pm following a police report lodged by the girl.

The case is being probed under Section 376 of the Penal Code which carries up to 30 years jail and canning, if convicted, according to Tenom Police Chief, DSP Hasan Majid.
Initial findings showed that the girl was believed to have contacted the man, who also happens to be her acquaintance from the same village, to fetch her from school as she wanted to return to their village about 4pm.
The man purportedly fetched the girl at her school in a Perodua Kancil and as they arrived at the junction to their village, he continued driving towards Bukit Layang-Layang where he stopped his car near some bushes and allegedly forced himself on her.
The man was also said to have taken photographs of the girl and threatened her not to disclose the incident to anyone before sending her home.

The girl related the incident to her family members leading to the police report being lodged.
