Kota Kinabalu: Strong winds on Friday night caused a 76-year-old grounded ship to be blown to shore near Sutera Marina.

When contacted, a representative of the marina said they were still trying to contact the crew.

The ship named “Orient Explorer”, launched at the height of the Second World War in 1943, has a long and interesting history.
It was delivered to United States (US) navy before being chartered to Great Britain and commissioned as “HMS Kilham” in the same year.

The 2026 D-MAX also introduces an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift across the range, including the Single Cab variant, making it the first pick-up truck in Malaysia to offer an automatic transmission in that body style.
It has been renamed for quite a number of times. The ship was dry-docked in Labuan Shipyard in 2009 before being anchored in Sutera Marina.
