Baby’s murder: Four foreign girls held in Semporna
SEMPORNA: A 20 month-old baby boy died several hours after being brutally abused by four foreign teenage girls in Taman Hatib, near here, Friday. The girls – three Filipinas and one Indonesian aged 16 to 19 – were arrested.

Semporna District Police Chief, Supt Sabaruddin Rahmat, said the baby was taken to the hospital at 12pm for treatment after the mother, 23, who was not in the house when the incident occurred, noticed he looked weak, pale and was not breathing.

“On physical examination, there were bruises on his right cheek and thigh. His condition worsened and was pronounced dead at 6.45pm,” he said, adding a was report was lodged at 7.34pm.

The victim’s mother and all four suspects were friends and staying in the same house. The victim was the first child before the mother separated with her husband about a year and a half ago.

Sabarudin said all the suspects were arrested at 9.30pm under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

She had left the baby with one of the suspects and all four decided to hit, kick and toss the infant.

“The suspects are believed to have slapped the victim and then tossed the victim onto the mattress before pulling the victim again, causing the victim’s face to hit the bed’s iron.

“Another suspect also stepped on the baby’s back,” he said. The body was sent to the forensic department for post mortem.
