Telupid first team to qualify for final in KDM Football League
KOTA KINABALU: KDM Telupid became the first team qualified for the final of this season’s KDM Football League tournament after their 1-0 second leg sem-final win over KDM Kudat at Likas Stadium on Saturday.

The team featuring several former state stalwarts in the likes of Reithudin Ag Amran , Ronny Harun, Sumardi Hajalan, Jufrey Omopor , Farid Saibun and Razlan Oto came through with a comfortably 2-0 aggregate following their first leg 1-0 victory at Kudat Sports Complex  a week ago.

The match kicked off at 3.30pm  saw them took  only seventh minutes to open the scoring through former President Cupper Asri Rustam.

However, despite their dominance, Telupid were unable to increase their lead as Kudat’s goalkeeper was in outstanding form with several stunning saves.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the two projects together would add 28MWac of new power generation capacity, helping to stabilise electricity supply in Sabah.
Jufrey also had a last minutes chip bounced off the post from a tight angle with the keeper stranded on the ground.

Kudat, who are the surprised outfit among the four semi finalists in this season’s campaign  put up a spirited display despite without any star players in the team.

They had  their  moments to score as well, especially towards the end of the first half but were unable to convert any of them, and with Telupid tightened up  their defence in the second half, they only opted for long range shots that hardly troubled Telupid’s goal.

With the victory, Telupid will next play the winner of the match between Semporna and Sepanggar which was to be played on Saturday night at the Tawau Sports Complex.
