Villagers want damaged  B’fort roads repaired
BEAUFORT: Villagers called on the Public Works Department (PWD) to repair the damage roads as soon as possible to avoid accidents to its users.

Lumadan’s Village Community Management Council Basis Maskita, said the first major damage is along Jalan Lumadan-Beaufort-Sipitang.

This road should be fixed immediately as several accidents had occured there.

“We are not blaming anyone but PWD should be concerned about the deteriorating road conditions.

“The PWD should regularly check the conditions on the road because the road is not only for the local users but also from Sarawak and Brunei,” he said.

According to Basis, there are many holes along the road which might have contributed to accidents especially during the night.

“Should there be no immediate action to repair the road, he feared that it would caused more incidents. 

“On Monday, there were two separate accidents between a motorcycle and car where one of the users was killed and another in coma. The incident happened along the damaged road.

“I hope the PWD will take immediate measures to repair the damaged section of the road,” said Basis.
