Attractive hole-in-one prizes up for grabs

Kota Kinabalu: Attractive hole-in-one prizes including one-unit of Proton Iriz await lucky winners at the Primaland 32nd SGCC Amateur Open and 4th SGCC Senior Open Championship to be held at Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) from March 6-8.

Apart from the Proton vehicle sponsored by Fook Loi Corporation (Sabah) Sdb Bhd, other hole-in-one prizes include cash RM30,000 from CP Risk Management Sdn Bhd, one unit of McWei 16S Gen Set worth RM20,000 from JPN Industiral Pte Ltd and four drums of SAE 4D lubricant worth RM6,000.

SGCC president cum organising chairman Nash Hon in a press conference held at the clubhouse on Friday said some 180 golfers are expected to take part in the three-day competition for the open category and two-day for the seniors.

According to him, last year’s winners Alex Lau  and Tham Soot Yuet are set to defend their open men’s and ladies title respectively and they will be facing challenges from former winners Casper Loh, Derrick Kong, Tomothy Lo and Maxwin Chiew as well as Sarawakian seasoned golfer Lee Kah Tung.

He added that defending senior men and ladies champions Peter Tan and Dora Mojiniu are expected to defend their titles as well.

The tournaments fees for the open are RM250 (men), RM200 (ladies) for SGCC member and RM350 (men), RM300 (ladies) for non-member while the seniors fees are RM200 (men), RM150 (women) for member and RM300 (men), RM250 (ladies) for non-member.

Closing date is set at February 28 and further information can be obtained from  Nordin at 088-247533.

Meanwhile, present at the press conference on Friday were Fook Loi Chairman Datuk Anthony Chiu, group executive director Thomas Chiu, SGCC treasurer Raymund Tan, secretary Datu Khalilul Rahman, captain Christopher Liaw and ladies captain Sally Chai.
