Tambadau take drastic action by replacing Puerto Rican Ramos
Sabah’s new signing Guy Kassa Gnabouyou training with the team on Friday.
Kota Kinabalu: French-Ivorian striker Guy Kassa Gnabouyou will be making his debut for Sabah Tambadaus in their first home match in the Super League clash against Felda United at Likas Stadium tonight (Saturday).

Sabah Football Association (Safa) President Datuk Peter Anthony made the surprise announcement on Friday that the 30-year-old former France Under-21 player has been signed by Safa to replace Hector Omar Ramos in the team.

According to him, the decision to make the drastic change was for the good of the team.

“The joint decision by the coaches and management team to bring in Gnabouyou was in the interest of the team and it was better to make the drastic measure when there was still an opportunity to do so.

“I hope with him in the team will help to strengthen our attacks which was rather weak as seen in the past few matches,” he said.

Hector who had scored 14 goals from 18 appearances for Sabah in the 2018 season failed to make an impression since his return to the team during the pre-season.

He made five appearances for Sabah including the season opener against Police last week which ended in a goalless draw as well as four pre-season friendlies.

Meanwhile, Peter said the team are in good shape to entertain Felda United tonight and hoped the players will deliver a winning performance to grab the maximum three points in front of the home crowd.

“All the players are ready with the exception of Dennis Buschening who will be sidelined due to a groin injury, so coach Kurniawan (Dwi Yulianto) will only have four foreign imports including Gnabouyou for the match tomorrow.

‘But I am sure Kurniawan will have his strategy planned and I also hope all the fans will come in large numbers to give their support to the players in our first home match in Super League this season.”
