Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) will be working with the State Forestry Department (JPS) on forest conservation while undertaking projects to develop electricity supply infrastructure in Sabah.
SESB acting Managing Director Datuk Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid said the effort would enable SESB to participate in forest conservation and rehabilitation, and indirectly assist in reducing global warming.
Both parties’ efforts have been sealed during the NNL Compensation Research & Assessment Workshop for the forest areas that will be affected by the implementation of the Southern Link Project, which is expected to begin in 2021.
The workshop also discussed forest management and the environment, approaches and mitigation to be taken to minimise the impact on forest areas that would be affected by the implementation of the Southern Link Project.
Meanwhile, the two-day workshop on March 5 to 6 also saw SESB and JPS recommend cost, scope proposals and information related to the project.
At the end of the workshop, a recommendation document was signed by Abdul Nasser representing SESB while JPS was signed by Forest Conservative Chief Datuk Mashor Mohd Jaini.
