TAWAU: Sabah Umno on Saturday urged the Federal Government especially the Education Ministry to take action against the State Education Director for being at an event officiated by a State Government Assistant Minister.Sabah Umno Communication Director, Ghazali Ansing, said the Director should be aware that the State Education Department is one of the federal departments in Sabah.

“The director carries the mandate of the Federal Government and should know and recognise that the State Government led by Warisan is now an opposition government.
“Directly or indirectly, Warisan Government leaders should not use any Federal Government facility including officiating official department programmes including school programmes in particular,” he said after officiating a SK Kampung Jawa Parent Teachers Association Annual Meeting, near here, Saturday.

He was commenting on the Department’s Bilik Rehat Sihat Campaign programme officiated by State Education and Innovation Assistant Minister Jenifer Lasimbang at SM St Paul, Beaufort. The programme was attended by the State Education Director and her officers from Beaufort, Kuala Penyu and Sipitang.

Ghazalie who is also Tawau Umno Division Head said the same was earlier being practised by Warisan Government leaders. ‘Ministries, departments and State Government agencies should not be allowed to invite representatives and opposition leaders to officiate, including district development meetings, planning and other areas represented by the opposition leader,” he said.

He said the same goes for federal department and agencies heads in Sabah who have the mandate of the Federal Government, adding that they should know and accept the matter. “Does the Federal department and agency heads in Sabah intend to sabotage the Federal Government by violating the directive?,” he said. He said stern action should be taken against federal department heads who try to sabotage the Federal Government.
