KINABATANGAN: A female Borneo pygmy elephant was found dead at the Malua Forest Reserve along the Kinabatangan-Lahad Datu border, here.

Sabah Wildlife Director Augustine Tuuga, when contacted, said initial investigation showed the elephant possibly died from poisoning.

He said a postmortem conducted three days ago found no external injuries on the elephant, about five to 10 years old.

“We are still waiting for a lab report on the elephant’s cause of death,” he said on Saturday.
