Petronas chemical company chips in in fight against Covid-19
PCG handing over its products in the form of raw material called Polypropylene (PP) to UiTM.
Kuala Lumpur: In supporting the country to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, Petronas Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG) is contributing its products and essential items as part of its PCG Covid-19 Relief Programme.

PCG is the leading integrated chemicals producer in Malaysia and one of the largest in South East Asia and it operates a number of world-class production sites, which are fully vertically integrated from feedstock to downstream end­ products.

Listed on Bursa Malaysia and with three decades of experience in the chemicals industry, PCG is established as part of the Petronas Group to maximise value from Malaysia’s natural gas resources.

According to its statement issued Tuesday, PCG delivered  its product a raw  material called  Polypropylene (PPL) to  the  Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Advanced Technology Training Center   (Adtec), in  Jerantut,   Pahang,  under   the  Manpower  Department  of  the   Human Resource Ministry.

“This raw material is used for the production of face shield frames to support local medical teams, including front liners and others in need.

“Subsidiaries under PCG, namely Kertih Port Sdn Bhd (KPSB) and Petronas Chemicals Fertiliser Sabah Sdn Bhd (PCFSSB) are also supporting the surrounding communities within their areas of operation.

In Sipitang, it said the PCFSSB supplied Hypochlorite solution to Sipitang District Council for the purpose of mass desanitisation in the Sipitang town.

“In these challenging times, it is important for all of us to come together and help each other. Whether they are our medical heroes whom are fighting this battle for us in the frontline, those who are dependent on daily wages or other Malaysians who are in need of our assistance, we will   do   everything possible within our means, including through our products and technological solutions, to help them.
