Bingkor folks to receive 1,500 food aid packages
The food aid will be distributed to 11 JDMs in Bingkor.
KENINGAU: Bingkor Assemblyman Robert Tawik handed over 1,500 food aid packages to 11 District Voting Committees (JDMs) in Bingkor for distribution to the villagers.

When met at the handing over ceremony to JDM heads at his Kampung Antalob residence, he said he hoped the assistance would help lighten the burden of the recipients.

He said the aid was for all residents in need, regardless of their race, religion or political affiliation.

“All the residents of the JDM received this assistance regardless of their political background. During the Covid-19 Movement Control Order (MCO), many need help especially those work in the agriculture sector besides the poor,” he said.

Robert said workers like farmers, petty traders and rubber tappers are unable to continue their day-to-day activities due to the Government order.

“I thank Keningau Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Arts, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan who has been providing food assistance to the people in Bingkor and other areas in Keningau since the beginning of the MCO.”

He also expressed appreciation towards several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) such as the Keningau Youth Power Club, Keningau Youth Club and the Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Youth Council, which also distributed food donations to the people in Bingkor.

“I also ask the State government to provide food assistance to the people of Keningau during the phase three of MCO.

“I am confident that under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, the Government will be able to provide assistance to those in need including in the Upper Interior area,” he said.

Robert also urged the people in Keningau, especially Bingkor, to stay at home during the extended MCO.

“The purpose of the MCO is to break in the Covid-19 spread. The Government’s action to impose the MCO is appropriate and the people should obey the Government’s instructions and stay home,” he said.

He hoped the people would give full cooperation to the frontliners, especially the District Disaster Operations Control Center (PKOB) who are working hard.
