42 crime cases recorded in Beaufort
BEAUFORT: Police here successfully made a number of arrests involving theft and individuals violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) since the order went into effect from March 18.

District Police Chief DSP Azmir Abd Razak (pic) said among the cases involved a motorcycle theft, an on-premises theft, a robbery case and also detention of two suspects involved in an online gambling.

“There have been 42 criminal cases recorded until April 15 this year while 43 recorded during the same period last year.

“In total, 13 people have been charged this year for violating the MCO.

“I advise people to obey the MCO and not to leave their home without any purpose,” he said adding that they will not take it easy on anyone who violated the MCO.

Meanwhile, Sipitang District Police Chief DSP Champin Piuh also called for the cooperation of all parties to comply with the MCO which entered its third phase beginning Wednesday.

“The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) along with The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and Sabah People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) will take stern action and arrest anyone violating the instructions given,” he said.

Champin said so far the MCO’s compliance in Sipitang is under control.
