TAWAU: The Wildlife Department will be monitoring and installing traps to catch a crocodile that attacked a 10-year-old boy at Sungai Bombalai, here, Tuesday.

The child who sustained serious injuries to his leg is currently at the Tawau Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit following the 3pm incident.

Tawau Wildlife Officer, Sailun Aris, when contacted by Daily Express said they have received a report lodged by the victim and his family.

In addition to setting up traps, the Department will also set up warning signs at the river.

It was earlier reported that the attack took place when the child went to the river bank near his house to help push a boat which his uncle wanted to borrow. The boat belonged to the victim’s father. An audio clip relating the incident was also circulated on WhatsApp.
