SIPITANG: Police arrested a 50-year-old man from Kg Bamban here for having a homemade firearm (bakakuk) and 0.55gm of syabu, as well as five bullets.
District Chief Police Champin Piuh said the man was detained at 2pm, Wednesday.

“The suspect together with the confiscated items were taken to Sipitang police station for investigations.
“Police are also working hard to detect drug addicts and distributors in order to break the drug distribution chain,” he said.
Champin said the suspect would be charged under Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960 and Section 15 (1) (a) and 12 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“Police have also identified the drug distributor’ identities in Bamban, Mendalong and surrounding areas, so we are asking for public cooperation to provide information on drug trafficking and distribution activities in Sipitang,” he said.

Earlier on April 21, police arrested eight men for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO), believed to be addicts and syabu distributors in the Mesapol and Sipitang here.
“One of the suspects is a Kedayan man from Kg Menengah, Sipitang who is a syabu distributor whose services include drug delivery to homes of buyers.
All the eight suspects will be investigated under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020 and Section 269 of the Penal Code and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Meanwhile, police have also arrested a 40-year-old man for defying the MCO at the roadside of Jalan Simpang CK Motor Batu 1 here, around 9.30am on April 17.
