Woman escapes car fire in Penampang

The car which burst into flames.
Kota Kinabalu: A 22-year-old escaped unscathed when her Proton car burst into flames at a parking space near a bank in Bundusan, Sunday.It is learnt that she drove from her workplace in Pavillion and had parked the car near the bank when the 12.40pm incident took place.

“After withdrawing money, I returned to my car and started the engine when I saw sparks coming from its compartment,” she said. She said she spent RM3,000 for repairs on her car just a day prior to the incident.
Firefighters from the Penampang Fire and Rescue Department were deployed to the scene. However, the car could not be salvaged as the fire spread quickly.
