He said those with firecrackers is similar to those with explosives, adding that police will not hesitate in confiscating and taking necessary action under Section 4(2) of the Explosives Act 1957.
He noted that a suspect was recently detained by police after firecrackers were found inside his car parked behind the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry’s office here.
Meanwhile, Sipitang Police Chief DSP Champin Piuh said there are licensed firecrackers or firecrackers which are permitted, which need a licence from the District Officer.

“Large firecrackers are still not allowed and action under the Explosives Act can be taken against those found playing with them,” he said.
District Fire and Rescue Station Chief Mohammad Hasbollah Nenggok, on the other hand, advised the public to be careful when playing with firecrackers.
“We are worried that the firecrackers might be placed in a manner which can cause fire, such as landing on people’s houses,” he said.
