BEAUFORT: The State Government through the Health and People’s Wellbeing Ministry launched the women’s entrepreneurial centre here to cater for their activities and business needs.Permanent Secretary Datuk Janet Chee said with the rise of the digital era and the Government’s call towards digitalisation in the fourth industrial revolution, women are playing multiple roles as caretakers in the home as well as career-driven individuals.

Janet added that many women entrepreneurs in Beaufort, Sipitang, Kuala Penyu, Membakut and Menumbok are in need of a centre to market their products and conduct activities.
“Women today contribute to the development of the country, state and region.
“They do not only hold traditional roles of cooking for the family and taking care of the children, but at the same time they have to be an efficient officer, a firm director or even a successful entrepreneur.
“In light of this, the ministry is aware of the need for women to be uplifted especially at districts that are in need of a one stop centre for women to conduct their activities.

“This is why the ministry has realised this centre as a gift to all women at this lower interior zone,”
She said this in her speech when officiating the centre, here, Tuesday.
Janet said the ministry, through the Sabah Women Affairs Department (Jhewa), will facilitate various entrepreneurial activities that would aid women entrepreneurs in marketing their products at the centre.
"I believe under the supervision of District Officers, women entrepreneurs here will smile when they see that they have a proper marketing platform (at the centre).
“District officials will work together to provide ideas and contributions to improve the economic development in their area, where they can bring those ideas for brainstorming at the centre,” she said.
Janet encouraged female entrepreneurs and women NGOS to seize the opportunity and consult their respective district officers on how they can utilise the centre for their activities.
“Do not keep on going on about how the Government does not help the economic development of families if entrepreneurs themselves do not put in the effort to improve their products,” she said.
