BEAUFORT: The Sipitang Water Department is urged to fix the water shortage in Kg Lubok that has been going on for nearly a week, affecting nearly 1,000 people. Masri Latif, one of the villagers, also asked the Department to be more proactive by providing water distribution services to affected villagers.

“The villagers’ lives are affected due to a shortage of clean water supply,” he said. “We are getting fed up with this situation as all activities are affected, especially those who have big families.
“Those who had stocked up water in their water tanks had ran out of supply now and have to go to Weston township to wash their clothes and to bathe.
“The rest have to bring gallon containers to be filled with water to be brought back to Kg Lubok and this is really troublesome.
“And for those who do not have vehicles have to gather rain water in water tanks…but that would only last them for a day or two,” he said.

He said, the Water Department should come up with initiatives to ease the burden of the villagers.
“Previously, Weston township also suffered from water disruptions and we hope the people’s representatives will go down to the ground to observe the problems faced by the villagers,” he said.
