Man, 61, pleads not guilty to sexual abuse against girl, 10

Kota Kinabalu: A 61-year-old man was charged with committing sexual abuse against a 10-year-old girl.

Tudiman Mattani pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz to the charge against him on Tuesday.

He is accused of committing the offence by performing oral sex on the girl between March and May this year between 8pm and 3am at a bedroom of a rented house in Simpang Ulu, Sipitang.

The offence under Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.

The court set Sept 28 for case management and Jan 27–28 next year for hearing.

Pending the date, Tudiman was released on a bail of RM10,000 in two local sureties and to report to the nearest police station once in a month as well as his passport, if any, to be impounded by the court.

Tudiman was also warned to not tamper with the prosecution witnesses.

Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nureen Natasha Mohd Raffie objected to bail Tudiman on the grounds that he might tamper with the prosecution witnesses especially the alleged victim as they are living in the same rented house.

However, Tudiman who was not represented, asked for a bail to be granted.

In the same court, three persons were jailed three months each for entering the State illegally.

They were Radman Jumadin, Abdul Samid Ibrahim and Lamisa who admitted to entering the State without any documents.

The foreigners were ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrest.

After completing their jail sentence, the foreigners were ordered referred to the Immigration Department for deportation.

Inspector Zamri Zakaria prosecuted.
