Kota Kinabalu: Former Chief Minister Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat has said he decided to return to active politics because of the increasing danger posed by illegal immigrants and Sabah's Muslim community clearly fast becoming a minority like their Kadazandusun and Murut counterparts.
“I decided to return to active politics because of the pain in my heart seeing the increasing danger by outsiders, the illegal immigrants, coming into Sabah. Our once-majority Kadazan, Dusun and Murut (KDM) community had already become a minority race in Sabah," the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Honorary Life President told a press conference, here, Thursday
“And more recently, our very own Sabahan Muslim community is clearly fast becoming a minority race just like our KDM communities...this is the reason I am going back active in politics."
Eradicating Sabah of illegal immigrants will be one of the LDP's main thrusts if it wins and takes over the State Government in the 16th State Election.
Chong also confirmed he will lead the party in facing the election.
