Two other PBS candidates Silverius Bruno (N.39 Tambunan) and Peter Jino Alliun (N.40 Bingkor) withdrew to avoid internal clashes within the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah alliance.

This came as a result of ongoing negotiations between GRS parties, as they are set to clash in as many as 17 seats in the elections. It was announced by Perikatan Nasional (PN) Sec-Gen. Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin after witnessing the signing of an agreement between Star Sabah President Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and PBS Sec-Gen. Datuk Jahid Jahim in Kota KInabalu.
