Decision Dec 1 on Liew’s libel suit

Kota Kinabalu: The High Court here fixed Dec 1 for decision on the defamation suit filed by caretaker Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Christina Liew against a man over his alleged malicious statement against her in a viral video a few days before the 14th General Election in 2018.

Judicial Commissioner Leonard David Shim will be delivering the decision via e-Review.

He set the date on Wednesday, which was scheduled for clarification of both parties’ submissions.

Liew is suing Leksun Injil, 56, the sole defendant, for damages for libel or alternatively damages for slander in respect of a video circulated widely via WhatsApp.

The trial of the suit was heard for three days on July 20-July 22.

Liew called three witnesses including herself, while Leksun was the sole witness for defendant.

Liew was represented by counsel Datuk Alex Decena and Jordan Kong.
