Kota Kinabalu: A spike of 41 Covid-19 cases made Tuaran a red zone of the disease on Wednesday while Papar, which also became a red zone the day before, saw another record-daily caseload of 20 cases.
Four other red zones in Sabah also saw double-digit new cases: Sandakan (52 new cases), Kota Kinabalu (57), Semporna (42) and Tawau (14), data from the Ministry of Health showed.
Two red zones recorded single-digit latest cases: Lahad Datu (eight new cases) and Kunak (3).
Nine yellow zones registered single-digit new cases: Kota Belud (9 new cases), Ranau (5), Tambunan (3), Sipitang (4), Keningau (3), Kuala Penyu (5), Penampang (7), Beaufort (2) and Putatan (7).
A district is a green zone if it has no active Covid-19 cases, a yellow zone if it has 1 to 39 cases and a red zone if 40 or more cases.
Meanwhile, Penampang, now with 28 active Covid-19 cases, is the closest among yellow zones in Sabah to becoming a red zone with just 12 cases short of reaching that category.
Putatan follows close with 25 active cases and just 15 cases more to be recategorised as a red zone.
